Being notoriously bad at poetry (well, OK, not notorious but just bad, although the first writing competition I won was with a poem; a rose amongst bushes of proverbial thorns), I spotted this link http://winningwords.org.uk/2011/04/11/jo-bell-poetry-course-end-of-week-1 on Twitter and read with interest Michelle’s blog about her first week on Jo Bell’s poetry course. Whilst it’s short and sweet (as poetry itself usually is), it reassures me that poetry isn’t that far removed from prose. The two things I take from Michelle’s post is that we need to edit, pare down and edit some more, and read, read and read some more… now, that I can do.
