Welcome to Post-weekend Poetry and the thirty-third poem in this series. This week’s piece is by V.E. Lee (from her book Rhythmic Keys in the Life of Queen copyright 1995).
In my mind…
I am guided by ancestral spirits
Back, back…back to the beginning of time,
With my countenance gleaming from eons of a Million suns.
Feel the nurturing glow from my eyes sparkling with inner rhythms as…
I sound forth that which rises in a subliminal HUM.
I am riches brought from the land of plenty…
Cloaked in sweet promises of oneness with all life.
I am impregnated with secrets from the mystery schools
Suspended in lineage seeds sublime.
Thus, I am the grains of time.
I am deep nighttime wisdom – some call me old
I am radiant morning time spawn in re-creation – some call me child
I am rose toned evening whispering in soothing hush.- you call me young folk.
Yet I recognize this place no matter what my age.
I arise in many shades of skin print silky color…
Burnt umber toast…
Dresden glazed hazelnut…
The blue of ink…
The pale of orchid showing purple vein…
The safflower yellow of a sunset…
And red clay in the lateness of day,
Co-mingled to form tawny ivory and maple sugar terrains.
Yes, we all got our beginnings from a heavenly paradise.
Rejoice as I tell you who we truly be…
Life… Spirit… Joy… Peace
And sometimes righteous FURY!
I am my brothers and sisters bold.
Though darkly colored of skin and twinkling eyes
Don’t dare think me dark of soul.
Let me remind you once again who it is I am,
I sprang from the union of father/mother God of Our fathers
Before the beginning of time in this sphere.
I am self-realized in colorful array
Your freedom I buy even to this day.
I am… I am… All of heaven in this earthly space
Thrust from a continent empowered by a gracious race.
I was birthed from a land where life still thrives.
Though here in this new place I abide.
I testify out loud to royal heirs in full bloom since the dawn of time.
Wake up I command.
Wake up to full conscious regal state,
Throw off that which blinds
As life’s ancestral spirit throne awaits your coming ascent
in grace and beauty wholly resonant.
Morgen: That was so colourful, thank you.
Reverend Victoria E. Lee is an ordained religious science minister since 1988, and served as assistant minister at City of Angels Church of Religious Science WLA, California. She wrote “Testirfy” because of her connection with a reason to be in her life and appreciation of such.
She attended Morgan State College and graduated from Coppin State College 1970. She won a scholarship to Peabody Conservatory for voice while a junior in high school and went on to win for 3 consecutive times on “Ted mack’s Amateur Hour” in the late 60s. Although many hiccups along the way, she grew up to become an active member of a variety of churches and various organizations including earning the highest achievement in Toastmaster GOLD), Leadership level (GOLD). She is proud of her 30+ years of sobriety in AA, which eventually turned into studying ministry in Science of Mind where she was ordained and then finished a doctorate of divinity at MECCA School of Religion in 2002. Since then Rev. Lee has written several books of poetry including one published as “Rhythmic Keys in the life of Queen” which sold thousands of copies within and outside the US and one full-length novel, Secrets in the Soul; cut a music and poetry album; won many awards for he written word as poetry and her story telling ability in prose.
She produced and hosted an ACE nominated leased cable access show for 4 seasons ( a year was a season in 1994). Rev. Lee’s life work is ministering to women (in particular) and men through workshops and retreats along with online lessons on contacting the “inner child” and performing all the healing work needed to regain lost self esteem left from the childhood and teenage years; She has also taught classes in religious science and the principles for reaching your highest potential; how to move onward so one can teach another in living life on life’s terms.
Her favorite prayer: God give me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.
Her favorite quote (paraphrased): “Just keep climbing, even though at times you cannot see the steps.” Dr. M.L. King.
Wants: “To develop meaningful friendships with people in my present and from my past; those who through the years have befriended me and new friends I’ve yet to meet.”

The blog interviews will return as normal tomorrow with sci-fi fantasy and horror author Mathew Bridle – the four hundred and fifty-fourth of my blog interviews with novelists, poets, short story authors, bloggers, biographers, agents, publishers and more. A list of interviewees (blogged and scheduled) can be found here. If you like what you read, please do go and investigate further. And I enjoy hearing from readers of my blog; do either leave a comment on the relevant interview (the interviewees love to hear from you too!) and / or email me.
You can sign up to receive these blog posts daily or weekly so you don’t miss anything… and follow me on Twitter where each new posting is automatically announced. You can also read / download my eBooks and free eShorts at Smashwords, Sony Reader Store, Barnes & Noble, iTunes Bookstore, Kobo and Amazon, with more to follow. I have a new forum, friend me on Facebook, like me on Facebook, connect with me on LinkedIn, find me on Tumblr, complete my website’s Contact me page or plain and simple, email me. I also now have a new blog creation service especially for, but not limited to, writers.
Unfortunately, as I post an interview a day (amongst other things) I can’t review books but I have a feature called ‘Short Story Saturdays’ where I review stories of up to 2,500 words. Alternatively if you have a short story or self-contained novel extract / short chapter (ideally up to 1000 words) that you’d like critiqued and don’t mind me reading it / talking about and critiquing it (I send you the transcription afterwards so you can use the comments or ignore them) on my ‘Bailey’s Writing Tips’ podcast, then do email me. They are fortnightly episodes, usually released on Sundays, interweaving the recordings between the red pen sessions with the hints & tips episodes. I am now also looking for flash fiction (<1000 words) for Flash Fiction Fridays.
