Post-weekend Poetry 110: A Word Acrostic About Love by Salvatore Buttaci

17 Feb

Welcome to Post-weekend Poetry and the one hundred and tenth poem in this series. This week’s piece is by poet and short story author Salvatore Buttaci.

A Word Acrostic About Love

ALL our dreams in the safeguard of
ANGELS who protect them!
DO what you will, world, but you will
NOT divide us.  Time, you will
WEAR us down but never apart.
WINGS of angels shelter us from storms
AND we thrive in the folds of their
ROBES. Cover us, Angels, with comforters
OF soft down. Turn dark clouds into
WHITE so the sun will always shine through.

I asked Salvatore what prompted this piece and he said…

A believer in guardian angels, I feel that one or more protect the love I share with my wife Sharon.

It was very clever. Thank you, Salvatore.

This is a wonderful acrostic – beautiful thoughts of guardian angels keeping love safe.

While I am not a believer that those who pass on into the spiritual realm, I do accept the reality of angels. It makes sense that God Who loves us would create guardians and messengers to eventually come to Earth and into our dreams to protect us from the devil’s snare and from the heartaches that life often brings to us. By writing about angels, I praise them and thank them for watching over us all.
