Extract from BWT podcast episode 6 (Sept 2010) – ideas

This section of the hints & tips podcast is all about getting story ideas before giving you seven sentence beginnings picked from my http://twitter.com/sentencestarts Twitter page; a week’s worth of daily writing projects should you wish to use them.

  • Art can be inspiration for writers, especially poets. You can either do a piece about the whole painting or a perhaps about the background history of someone featured in it.
  • I mentioned www.creativewritingprompts.com last week and gave you no. 140 for an example story plot. Number 5 is poetry related, namely: ‘Choose a poem you like. Today’s seven sentence starts are…

1.    As he scratched his…

2.    Sally shielded her eyes from the glare of the spotlight…

3.    You remember the time when… (that’s 2nd person viewpoint)

4.    The chair creaked as the bottom sat down…

5.    One of Helen’s shoes fell off as she fled the scene…

6.    Ricky was over the moon about getting into the team…

7.    The squeal/squeak got louder until Frankie couldn’t take any more…
