Melodie – what do you say?
I’d be happy but it probably won’t be for a week or so. Was it just a general overview or I can go in-depth (line by line) for my ‘red pen’ podcast but that opens up your story to all my subscribers / viewers (dotted around the globe). I’m firm but fair. The first red pen episode was launched yesterday – details on my podcast page – so you might like to listen to that before you decide. 🙂

i just listened to your podcast and really enjoyed it…

I think for me just a general overview would be great… i don’t think my work is that good or worthy of so much of your attention… I don’t mind constructive criticism either as it can only help us.. you were very fair and the points you made were fabulous…

I am emailing my story to you… i will let you decide if it’s worthy of your red pen pod cast 🙂

Great interview M&M – usually I like Smarties better but you’re the treat of the day.
Mel, I think I know what “low comedy” is, what is “high comedy”? (You get in a few low blows and some slapstick with the food fight in Rowena Through the Wall.)

Okay, I admit it. I write ‘low’ comedy. Sometimes screaming in anguish comedy. Sometimes….the poor little words want to go kill themselves in a vat of scotch.
Actually, a wee dram should probably come with all of my books. Must think about that.

I’m the Mark mentioned in Melodie’s interview. It really took me 18 years to get her to see the light and come over to the dark side and write fantasy. My work here is done. Broohaha!

What an excellent and interesting interview! Morgen, it was a very good interview and I am very glad that you did it with Melodie! She is worth of gettin as much PR to Rowena Through the Wall.
I finished Rowena Through the Wall couple of days ago and the boook was very good. My compliments to Melodie!
Yes, there is a lot of humor in this book, I certainly giggled and laughed out loud several times. But I also think the towards the end the book gets also other dimension into it – it gets more serious and dark in a way. And I loved that about Rowena Throught the Wall. I am very excited to the sequel!
The e-world is fascinating, I do read both paper-books and e-books. It is in a way weird how the world of books and publishing, reviewing is getting smaller. Think, I am sitting behind my laptop reading Melodie’s book in Estonia. 20 years ago that would not have been possible simply.
Melodie’s book is filled with humor, action, romance and adventure. She is truely a professional writer!

Hey! I’ve known Melodie by eMail (Title there!) for about 2 weeks since reading her Rowena Through the Wall. She’s a splendid lady and RTtW is a great first novel; I’m all for humour and this book has it in spades – it’s a compelling and enjoyable read.
As for Melodie’s interview, we know without doubt now that she’s a more interesting person than most. That’s the view from this rainy, misty little island of Great Britain where her heroine ends up.
great interview, both of you, David.

I don’t know why I was surprised to read that Melodie was a torch singer at one time. Having worked with her and having read ‘Rowena Through the Wall’, I should have known that she would have the rich and colourful background she described in Morgen’s wonderful interview. Melodie has to be the most vivacious self-described ‘shy Canadian’ I’ve ever met! It was wonderful to learn more about this most talented woman and fellow Canadian.

Thanks so much everyone, for all your kind comments!
    Morgen, have we overwhelmed you?
Pop across the pond sometime, so we can show you some Canadian hospitality, albeit somewhat loony. After all, our dollar coin *is* called the loony.
    Thanks again, Morgen!

Very pleasantly overwhelmed. Loony is great! My impression of Canada is clean with crisp cold air. Probably way off? I did the Canada and the Great Lakes for ‘O’ level (15/16 yrs old) so fond memories. We all laughed at the fact that one of them is named after a Womble. 🙂

Personally I find humour very difficult to write, so I am in awe of Melodie’s talent. I should tell you that she’s my friend, too, but I would just remain silent if I didn’t mean this. I love that you are doing these interviews, Morgen – what a boon for readers and writers alike!

Ah thanks Cathy. I love doing them too and the good news is that I have almost 50 more scheduled (returned and ready to post or waiting for me to go through them) with another 73 questionnaires gone out… looks like I’m not having a day off any time soon. 🙂

Hmmm — crisp cold air, eh? Not around here lately — I’m on the north shore of Lake Ontario and it’s humid and hot here most of the time lately!! Clean, yeah, ok, we are trying to get a grip on the Tim Hortons junk on the roadsides — they seem to think that being a Canadian icon excuses them from the necessity of looking after our environment, but the rest of us “shy Canadians” have other ideas.

Heh — how about “Timmies Through the Wall” as a sequel, Mel? We can all collaborate on that one!! lol

The way Melodie has come across in this interview is of a Canadian Terry Pratchett. So she writes humour now that is something which I can take seriously, for if anyone has tried they soon discover how difficult it can be.
Many years ago I had a friend who used to become the comedian every time he grew nervous; I just hope Melodie does not write humour for the same reason and writes purely for the love. We need all the humour we can get out of life and I for one would like to see Melodie around for a lot of years

Ah Glasghee. A friend and I spent a week in Edinburgh a couple of years ago and got to the outskirts of Glasgow but didn’t quite make it… hopefully next time…
Will be in touch asap (probably next week) re. your story.
