I read Ms. Colon’s book, and it’s fabulous. She has a real passion for uncovering the “real” story–the man behind the myth, you might say–rather succumbing to recorded history and carrying down the same stereotype that others have done to date. It should be noted that it’s just human nature to pursue a project of this sort when the result will be something salacious, but it takes a serious and thoughtful researcher and writer to provide evidence of someone’s “goodness,” especially when it’s contrary to what we have all believed to date. I hope the message in this book spreads and redeems Rasputin’s image because of the many good works he performed and the obvious personal risks he took.
