Hello. I’ve recently put a shout-out on LinkedIn to take part in my Author spotlights and the response has been great. That said, it’s proven to be quite frustrating with a number of authors not reading the guidelines properly; either only sending me part- or different content.
I welcome new submissions for everything below but PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE read the guidelines before you submit anything, and please don’t just send the content; I am human, please say “hello”! And please allow up to 2 weeks for a reply. If you’ve not heard by that time, then feel free to email me.
I would ask that you read an already-posted item to get a feel for the layout of the item you plan to submit for. It really does make all the difference. All content has to be family-friendly so no strong violence / language etc.
Because of the high volume of enquiries received across this blog (900+ outstanding to-date), I don’t schedule in advance but when I receive the content.
I don’t do book reviews – see Reviewers for some other sites that do.
An author spotlight is made up of a <1,000-word third person biography, <1,000-word first-person about your writing / anything interesting writing-related, then links to you and your work (see the already-posted spotlights as examples) – ideally the text together in one document please. You can also provide a photograph of yourself and your book cover(s) to add some colour to the post. Please email me as attachments rather than email-embedded text / photos. Thank you.
Informative writing-related topics <1,000 words with a <500-word third-person biography, along with low resolution .jpg photos of yourself and / or one or two covers (as separate files please) and links to where we can find you and your writing. I like to mix the topics so if you submit please be aware that you may not necessarily get the next available slot. Please send as attachments wherever possible, thank you.
If you’d like your story considered, email me your story (in full; up to 1,000 words, no more please or it won’t be flash fiction) and I’ll take a look. If it’s suitable I’ll email you with the Friday I plan to run it and it’ll be added to the schedule on this page. I’ll also then need <250 words on the inspiration behind it, a <250-word third-person biography, links to your website, blog etc., and a photo of yourself and / or book.
Email me your poem (60 lines max), <250 words on the inspiration behind it, <250-word third-person biography, links to your website, blog etc., and a photo of yourself and / or book(s).
The full genre / format-specific interviews are currently posted on this blog weekend mornings UK time and carry a £10 / €12.50 / $15 charge. Alternatively you can have a free standard interview on http://morgensauthorinterviews.wordpress.com – (just a Q&A format though, no extra comments from me) then when it goes live I will mention it later the same day on this site. Email me and let me know which option you’d like to do and I’ll send you the relevant questionnaire.
Do you have a free eBook scheduled, you can email me with the following details:
- email subject heading ’5am Flash’
- your name
- your website
- short third-person author bio (<500 words)
- book’s genre
- short synopsis of the book (<500 words)
- the dates it’s going to be free (please give me at least a week’s notice)
- the full ‘purchase’ links (.com / .co.uk)
- your photo and / or book cover pic (as small .jpg attachments wherever possible, not copied / pasted into the email / document)
- and please say “hello”. 🙂
In January 2013, I created five new online writing groups to share your short stories, poetry and novel / script extracts for feedback. I also post weekday 15-minute writing exercises – see Online Writing Groups.
** NEW!! You can now subscribe to this blog on your Kindle / Kindle app!
or http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008E88JN0 for outside the UK **
You can sign up to receive these blog posts daily or weekly so you don’t miss anything. You can contact me and find me on the internet, view my Books (including my debut novel, which is being serialised on Novel Nights In!) and I also have a blog creation / maintenance service especially for, but not limited to, writers. If you like this blog, you can help me keep it running by donating and choose an optional free eBook.
For writers / readers willing to give feedback and / or writers wanting feedback, take a look at this blog’s Feedback page.
As I post an interview a day (amongst other things) I can’t unfortunately review books but I have a list of those who do. If there’s anything you’d like to take part in, take a look at Opportunities on this blog.
I welcome items for critique for the online writing groups listed below:
