Tonight’s book review, of a fantasy novel by John J. Higgins, is brought to you by Cindi Price.
The Archangel Jarahmael In Rebellion
Synopsis: The second book from John J. Higgins. “In Rebellion” escalates the discontent between the Angels and the surging struggle for power. Division of loyalty is no longer an option, it is enforced and the Angels’ must defend their convictions with the impending war. Luciferael and his recruits are not only relishing with anticipation their dethroning of the Almighty and his loyal followers, they are willing to step on each other to accomplish their personal goals. The army of Angels that defend the Almighty lead by Jarahmael quickly devise a plan they hope will conquer and secure the Almighty’s creations. The absence of the Almighty, the concern for Lillith, identifying the traitors and keeping the loyal followers safe, may prove to be more than Jarahmael can achieve. It is a story of love, hate, jealousy, survival and ultimately assurance that all living things will be allowed to flourish and persevere. The perfect plan disintegrates and a new plan must be written but by whom?
I have been patiently waiting for “The Archangel Jarahmael In Rebellion”, to be released since reading “The Archangel Jarahmael and The War To Conquer Heaven In The Beginning”, in December. Finally the day comes I have the book, savor it, pace yourself… sorry I have been waiting impatiently and I am not a disciplined girl.
The first chapter sets the pace of events unfolding. Every word intended to engage the readers. The rhetorical good verses evil lines are clearly defined, or are they? Author John J. Higgins methodically refuses to adhere to conventional story lines not allowing you as the reader to coast along and predict what is going to happen. You become absorbed and vulnerable as you assess each characters execution, ability, and loyalty. The characters’ motivations and justifications are presented so skillfully that I was unable to determine clear cut boundaries between good and bad, love and hate, right or wrong at times. All the Angels were created with the Almighty’s love, and how can love be evil? Is it misguided to dedicate yourself to an ideal you inherently believe in and that results in unintended consequences?
I felt each repugnant betrayal, I rejoiced with every conquest, restless in light of the uncertainty. Again, the writing, the narrative, makes you inhale every word contemplating and agonizing over each decision made. My emotions went from outrage to near tears on many occasions only to be deceived or elated by the brilliant, ingenious, and talented author.
I do have a major “concern,” it happened when I saw “THE END of BOOK II”. Wait what about… when will… why is… I am not a patient or disciplined girl, please I have unresolved issues. I NEED Book 3.
Book III Coming Soon: The Archangel Jarahmael In Exile.
Rating: 5 out of 5
Thank you, Cindi. I look forward to the review of that one.🙂
Cindi is a freelance writing for various avenues. She has been reviewing music for 30 years but this is her first book review, because, she says, “I thought it was magnificently written and a fresh outlook on creation.”
Cindi resides in North Carolina, is a mother of two grown boys, and works as an Organ Coordinator for a transplant company. She very often says that she works with Heroes and Angels. The Angels are the people who have left this earth, and the Heroes are their loved ones that, at the worse moment of their life, losing a loved one, think of what they could donate to make someone else’s life better. Love at its best.
Cindi is a freelance writer and as well as her music reviews, she has had articles printed in a variety of magazines. She is currently working on a book, and writes poetry and songs.
