This piece sums it up completely for me. So many people expect to be able to just write a novel, and for it to be brilliant. But I agree with the agent, and everything she said. Things need to be precise, coherent, planned out and well executed to even be viewed. It is hard work. very hard work, but somehow, hearing all of those numbers in relation to manuscripts doesn’t scare me because I know that a few years ago I was one of those that was disregarded immediately, but now I’m aware of what the writing process involves. Hard? Yes. Definitely. But still I’ll try.

    Good vid. I enjoyed it.

Glad to hear of your perseverance, Rob. I’ve been writing for eight years (well over my million words) and I’m still learning (although I’ll be teaching locally from next January so that’ll be a test of how much has sunk in!). Great to see you here. Thank you for commenting.
