Very interested in the acknowledgement of ‘too abstract’ and possibly ‘too deep’. The interface between the poet and the reader is a matter of delicate discrimination and adjustment, to be able to plumb the depths but express those accessibly…and the prevalent judgement of the current fashionable market decides whether it has been accomplished! The courage of the poet to slice themselves open (like roast beef) is something non-poets seldom understand…the ‘tread carefully’ is crucial to criticism.
