Love this. Very inspiring. I fully relate to it all! My hide’s getting bigger and I guess I’m getting ready for the rejections to flow. My apprenticeship seems to be going on for years, I might need to rethink some stuff.

Thank you, Laura and Lynne! It’s taken me years to really pinpoint who will make it as a writer, and who won’t in my classes. In a way, this is their ‘final take-home’ test. Thanks for commenting!

I think number 7 is so important. This week I was floored by some of the negative reviews written on Goodreads for some the best books I’ve ever read! I questioned whether that was something I could put up with as an author. If I’d be resilient enough to confidently continue. The answer: I have to be. That is the only option for me 🙂 Thanks for the reminder.

Dee, I so agree. One of the downsides of this job of being an author is being judged by people who can’t do what you can do. I have learned to live for the delightful emails/reviews I get from fans, and try to remember that not everyone is going to like what I write. (But I do wish people would be kind!)
