Tonight’s guest blog post is brought to you by writer / editor and guest blogger Sandra Miller.
Best Productivity Tools to Make Writers More Effective
When you read some of the most popular blogs, the content flows effortlessly and makes you think that blogging wouldn’t take you more than an hour a day. However, things get a bit complicated when you make your own attempt at writing. The online environment is extremely distracting, so you will have to find a way to use the benefits of the Internet without allowing it to take you to a place you don’t want to be.
Instead of trying to meditate before each writing challenge with the purpose of increasing your effectiveness, I have something better to offer: modern tools that provide guaranteed results in improving your ability to write.
1. Wunderlist
If you want to become a more productive writer, you have to rely on reminders and to-do lists. There are many tools you can use for that purpose, but Wunderlist is the best choice because it enables you to stay organized in the easiest manner. You can access your lists and reminders from anywhere and use it to plan anything, as well as to collaborate with other users who can help with your writing projects.
2. Time Doctor
Time goes away pretty fast when you’re trying to write an urgent essay, article, or any other type of content. However, you would be surprised of the results you could achieve if you managed your time properly, which is what this tool is all about. When you plan to write for an hour, you rarely devote the entire hour to your project, do you? Time Doctor will show you how much time you are using for writing, which will eventually make you more conscious about time management.
3. Ninja Essays
If you have an important writing project that you cannot complete by the given deadline, the professional team at Ninja Essays will provide you with the assistance you need. The service at this website is personalized according to the user’s unique needs, so you can feel free to ask for the help of its skilled and educated professionals knowing that you’ll always get what you expect.
4. 750words.com
750words.com is one of the greatest productivity boosters, which inspires you to write a minimum of 750 words every single day. Devoting yourself to such daily goal will definitely improve your skills as a writer. The calendar featured on the site will keep track of your activity and inspire you to get checkmarks on all dates.
Writing every day is not easy if you cannot think of fresh, inspiring topics. When you find yourself in the middle of a writer’s block, visiting Story Starters can get you out of that situation. This tool will generate a random starting line which you can use as an inspiration for your own writing. Story Starters is the perfect tool for story writers, but it can also be used by anyone else who wants to practice their writing skills every day.
6. Pomodoro
This tool gives you 25 minutes to complete a task you assign to yourself. You’re allowed to take breaks between writing, but you won’t be able to interrupt the process while in the middle of those 25 minutes because the countdown clock on your computer screen will keep reminding you to stay focused on the work.
If you don’t want to hire a professional editor for your writing projects (which may be necessary for big and important pieces of content), then you can use Ginger Software to improve the grammar and phrasing of your content. This tool will make the process of proofreading faster and easier by correcting your typos, grammar and spelling mistakes.
Conclusion: Achieve better results with the right tools
If you think that writing takes too much of your time, then you should start managing your activities more effectively and get the right tools that will help you reach your potential. The above-listed tools are useful for all bloggers, students, short story writers, and everyone else who needs to improve their writing skills and productivity.

I could definitely do with more time-saving devices so that was great. Thank you, Sandra.

Thank you, Sandra. That was a lot of information to sift through, and, even if the idea of having special software to improve and/or direct one’s writing was a little daunting, the actual advice was worthwhile. For example, I always try to write between 750 and 1,000 words a day (no software), and I have found, as you suggest, that it is a very good ‘productivity booster’.

I also just tried the Pomodoro suggested in this post but there seem to be issues with it and possibly the programme is no longer running from suggestions on the forum

Nice list, Sandra. One more tool I’d like to include is Proofhub. Embedded with features like time tracking, to-do’s, gantt chart, proofing tool and also it is available in 5 languages. Very effective for handling teams, clients as well as projects.
