Not Visiting Day

You knew you were here for a reason, except that as you stare at the front door, your memory is blank.

It’s not visiting day, you’re sure of that. If it were there would be people around. Noise. You like noise.

There are no staff either, which doesn’t make sense, but nothing seems to anyway.

It’s cold. You don’t like being cold.

As you try and think of your history, nothing comes; no family, friends, no snapshots of happier times. You’d settle for ‘not so happy’ right now… a mother scolding, a father shouting, a wife leaving.

Then you remember.
