Day 23 of NaNoWriMo and I’m still catching up. I’m a mere 11,318 behind (better than yesterday’s 14,596), having done 4,573 today. I now have an average of 3,831 words to do each day until the end (can you tell I’ve got a nerdy Excel spreadsheet?) 🙂 which again is quite possible, especially as lockdown here in the UK doesn’t end until 2nd December.
Speaking of which, I feel for everyone. I work from home (with a fab job – pulling a publisher’s – Bloodhound Books – novels apart) anyway so I’m one of the lucky ones. I hope you’re all staying safe, cliched as it may sound.
Having finished the first draft of the second in my Rachel Cavanagh / Henry Houdini dog detective short spin-offs. ‘Henry Goes to the Barbecue’ (in November… a method to my madness!) last night, I moved on to a third ‘Henry and the Lawyer’, again about 15-20,000 words in length, today. They’re great fun so if you do end up reading them (they should also be around the pound/dollar/euro mark) I hope you enjoy them. I’m hoping these two will be out mid-December, after at least three edits from the two of us (that’s myself and Caroline, I’m not counting myself twice!).
So that’s me. How are you doing?
Congrats on closing the gap a bit! A little more at a time each day and I bet you’ll be able to reach 50,000.
I’m still about two days behind. But luckily, I don’t have any school work due this week, so I might be able to catch up!

Hi Morgen, Good to see you are doing well during this terrible time. Re Nano that for me is going well. Re your books, I hope that you have success. Best regards Colin Guest

That’s very kind, Colin. Thank you very much. I hope you and yours are well too. I’m delighted that you’re doing NaNo as well. Deadlines, especially this one, are a great tool for focussing… I hope to continue with at least 1,000 words a day thereafter.
