Word Count Wednesday: 10 Aug 2022

Good morning. Yes, it’s that time of the week again. How have you been getting on?

I’ve been spending a few days at beloved’s (T) so was able to do some writing from Saturday. I re-read my ‘story so far’ and made some tweaks which took it below the 3k mark, which was fine. The first few chapters are alternate ‘now’ and ‘then’ so it’s quite easy to switch back and forth (and hopefully will be for the reader).

I even managed to write when the television (a shared lounge) was on. I always wonder how some writers relish, and prefer, a busy cafe to a quiet space. Classical music is my preference but I have to learn to block out words, especially when T’s on night shift and has to sleep during the day which means I’ll probably escape to the local dog-friendly pub. A hardship of course.

Saturday close of play saw a total of 700+ words which was good. I picked up again Sunday afternoon/evening while T was busy and got another 1,200+ words done. Monday was doing some work at my house so no spare time but I made up for it Tuesday evening with just over a thousand  words.

All in all a total of 3,003 words done this week and ones I really like so that’s a bonus.

Do leave a comment below to share your progress, successes and otherwise, and of course anything else that’s happened to you, writing related, over the past seven days.

Ah, thanks, Isabel. Two new estate agents on board so keeping everything crossed. My mum’s has no outdoor space (garages instead) so I knew that would be tricky but both estate agents have been stunned that mine (3-bed detached with two-car driveway overlooking a green overlooking a golf course) hasn’t sold but then the original one priced it too high so we’ve had to keep coming down which doesn’t look good. More realistic with the next one, who sell a LOT locally so hopeful of the switch next week.

3,000 words is brilliant, especially the good ones.
But aaaargh. I can’t believe it’s Wednesday again and I still haven’t written a blog! I’d forgotten that I volunteered an author interview, which was a few thousand words, plus put the finishing touches to my first ever paid article commission. They are both sent off now, so no excuses…
My skin might be saved by a guest blog that I shared on The Write Stuff. I can post that while working on my next travel post, lest my followers think my blog has become inactive.
The temperature is in the mid 30s in Bosnia-Herzegovina, so we’ve parked up by a river for a week to keep cool.
My mission, and I choose to accept it, is to get my travel blog out of Italy this following week!

Don’t the weeks go so quickly. I have a persistent reminder on my computers which certainly helps. It’s only set to Tuesday so I should have it daily really but being at Tim’s with no work planned until I get back on Friday (then not leaving my desk for a few days) means I can concentrate on writing.
