If The Enemies Of Love

If the enemies
of love find us
We will say nothing
but our names

If they torture us
We will keep
Our lips sealed
Our eyes tearless

If they insist
That love’s a crime
We’ll bow our heads
Pretend the guilt is ours

If the enemies of love
Insist we must pay
With our lives
Let’s pay them well

And laughing
Our hearts away
take our secrets
To the grave
