Below is a list of some outlets welcoming submissions of novels (click here for other genres) – do let me know if you know of any others. Thank you.

• Absolute Write, as well as having a literary community, is a great resource for information across the spectrum.
• Ai Press welcomes erotic romance short stories and novels – see http://ai-press.net/submit-to-ai-press for their full guidelines.
• Arabesques Editions is an Algerian-based magazine publisher but takes a variety of English language submissions.
• Avon Impulse invites submissions of various length in all sub-genres of romance.
• Baen Books is after non-fiction and fiction.
• Blackbird welcomes poetry, fiction and non-fiction.
• You might be interested to know that Blossom Spring Publishing in the UK (with a world-wide distribution) are open for submissions from established, new and even self-published authors of all genres. Here is the link to their submission guidelines page. Good luck!
• Carina Press (part of Harlequin) take a variety of books in a variety of fiction genres. Their Write for Us page shows what they take then their How to Submit sections shows you how to submit (via their online form). “We are currently taking submissions, both unagented and agented, at CarinaUKSubs@hqnuk.co.uk.” Also see https://www.harlequin.com/shop/brand/carina-press.html.
• Circalit “enables novelists, screenwriters and playwrights to showcase their writing to film producers, book publishers and literary agents”.
• Adele Cosgrove-Bray mentioned an opportunity for self-publishing comics and graphic novels via comiXology – see http://adelecosgrove-bray.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/self-publishing-comics-and-graphic.html.
• Curiosity Quills also welcomes comics and graphic novels – see http://curiosityquills.com/submission-guidelines/comic-submissions.
• Hong Kong-based Custom Books “publish fiction… historical, crime, thrillers, adult romance and erotica, sci-fi and selected books for teens, young adults and Kindi Corner. Occasionally non-fiction or a self-help book will take our eye. View our current books, read our author comments and if you wish to publish then read our Submission Guidelines.”
• damselfly press seeks fiction, non-fiction and poetry.
• Dark Horse Comics welcomes unsolicited manuscripts.
• Empirical magazine welcomes submissions of poems, short stories and novel extracts.
• New imprint FireStep Publishing welcomes manuscripts and ideas from new authors in the military genre.
• H2Open Magazine invites articles about open water swimming.
• Call for Romance Submissions from Harper Impulse.
• Independent publisher Indigo Dreams are always on the lookout for quality work and are particularly seeking novels and non-fiction with a USP (unique selling point).

• Linen Press – exceptionally fine writing by women, for women.
• Literary Submission Helper does what it says on the tin: “we currently have 500 fiction and non-fiction submission opportunities, across all genres, 50 of which have been made available for free.”.  You get a sample for free but have to pay to see all 500+ across the genre range.
• Mighty Creatives: job opportunities based in the Midlands area, UK.
• A brilliant resource is My Perfect Pitch.com which has a page of publishers currently accepting book submissions.
• Spotted on LinkedIn: Oaklight Publishing is having an open call for newly completed romance novels to consider for publishing in the second half of 2013 and the first half of 2014. Send queries to matt@oaklightpublishing.com. Shout-out on LinkedIn May 2013
• The Other Publishing Company welcomes short stories (c.5,000 words) and full-length novels. See their submissions page.
• Rickshaw Publishing is “on the hunt for quality submissions to entertain and enthral our in-house team. So all you unpublished wordsmiths out there: fire up you Interweb machines, read our submissions policy and get sending. We’re looking for authors that show bags of potential – without necessarily having a finished book – but please think how to give your projects the best chance of getting picked up”. • Norfolk-based (UK) annual literary magazine The Savage Kick seeks submissions that will “make readers sit up and listen”. Short stories / novel excerpts (<6000 words) or articles / interviews (<3000 words). Response times are quick (aim <2 weeks!) but payment rates low £20 stories / £15 articles/interviews. They recommend you read the magazine before submitting.
• Scintilla Press welcomes fiction, non-fiction, poetry and book reviews.
• srinavyap commented below about publishing novels in serial form (not to be confused with a ‘series’ of whole novels). I wasn’t aware of any so I googled the topic and found some great links which may help: The Write Practice (which mentions Plympton Publishing, who has a really interesting article here), and WSJ (which mentions St Martin’s Press, who are part of the Macmillan group, and Penguin’s digital press specialising in romance, mystery and sff Intermix, sff publisher Tor, and lastly Amazon’s Kindle Serials, who are not currently accepting unsolicited submissions). Riptide Publishing also publishes serials and has a page for serial readers. Alternatively, if you’re thinking of self-publishing take a look here. • New online community totally4women.com is looking for contributors. Enthusiastic and articulate female writers are needed to contribute to a dynamic, evolving, and interactive website aimed at women in their 40s,50s and beyond. Previously unpublished writers are welcome. • Wink Publishing only publishes eBooks from unpublished writers and “wants to help new writers find their readers”.
• http://writersguidelines.blogspot.com does what it says on the tin; is packed with submission info.
• www.writingeastmidlands.co.uk/services/opportunities is a great list of opportunities.
• Xenith is open to “most forms and genres of writing: poetry (5 max per submission), fiction (max 8000 words), flash fiction (5-500 words), plays, creative nonfiction, graphic novels, comics and comic strips, unsent letters, experimental, sci-fi, literary mainstream, whatever”.
