Complementing my interviews, today’s Author Spotlight, the three hundred and forty-fifth, is of equestrian novelist Christine Meunier. If you would like to take part in an author spotlight, take a look at author-spotlights.
Christine Meunier writes stories that focus on her passion for horses and/or her faith. Born in South Australia, she now resides in North East Victoria with her husband and plans to one day run her own horse property.
Christine considers herself introduced to the wonderful world of horses at the late age of 13 when her parents agreed to lease a horse for her. She started experiencing horses via books from a young age and continues to do so, but recognises that horses cannot be learnt solely from books.
Having studied horses since 2001, Christine has built up a career as an equine educator whilst learning about many different facets of the equine industry. This has included jobs with breeding racehorses, instructing horse riding, strapping racehorses, riding trail and endurance horses and as a stable hand. She currently teaches horse studies at a local Tertiary and Further Education facility in Victoria.
Her passion for horses has led her overseas to study in Ireland, travel in France and horse ride in South Africa. It is these experiences and her love of writing that has led her to put pen to paper and teach others about horses through novels.
Having grown up in a Christian environment and a firm believer in her faith, Christine has started a horse series that explores growing in a Christian environment and learning about God from others.

And now from the author herself:
When I was sixteen years of age I was told that horses were a phase I was going through and that I would grow out of it, once I discovered boys! This was the excuse my careers teacher used to tell me that I wasn’t allowed to go to a horse business for my necessary work experience.
I have since discovered boys and married a beautiful man, but the horse passion has not dissipated! I have studied and worked with horses ever since I completed my Victorian Certificate of Education. Even today whilst teaching horse courses, I am still undertaking a course of my own – the Bachelor of Equine Science.
Horses have seen me travel around the world, experience amazing things and meet some incredible people. Upon telling some of my stories about my travels and work to my parents, my mother suggested I write these down. As the stories kept coming, I started writing.
It is my desire that others would learn about the multitude of possible careers with horses that are available to them if they are keen and hard working. And these jobs can be in almost any country around the world! Through this desire Horse Country was born and published in July, 2013.
Over a ten or so year period Horse Country was shaped and written. The novel in itself follows the lives of four young women working in the horse industry. Two teach horse riding at a metropolitan riding school whilst the other two are in the thoroughbred breeding industry. Although the novel is fictional, much is factual with regards to horses and horse care and is based on events that I have experienced as I’ve built up a resume working in the horse dinustry.
It is a wonderful feeling to have completed and published a book about a topic of which I’m very passionate. Whilst first promoting and releasing Horse Country, an idea to create a series that promoted horses as well as my faith formed. It was a little while before the idea of the Free Rein series came to me, but when it did the first novel wrote itself.
These books have been written to educate and inform young readers about the joys of owning a pony or horse and of looking after it. It is my hope that it will also inspire young minds to find out about their heavenly Creator and the great plans He has for them.
