Word Count Wednesday: 2 Nov 2022

Good morning. Yes, it’s that time of the week again. How have you been getting on?

Day 1 of NaNoWriMo saw a 2,455 word count, not bad for a 1,667 minimum. Before (and including) yesterday I’d made more notes for the novel I was doing and had 2,401 words of those on Monday before going in… better placed than in previous years where I had a vague notion and ran with it. Not that that did me any harm back in 2009 when I wrote the first draft (117,540 words) of The Serial Dater!

On a personal level, I’ve had a few hiccups with the house sale but hopefully back on the right track now with completion due on Friday. Anyone going through the same process, you have my sympathies. I’ve booked physio on my ankle and shoulder (rotator cuff) today and have our trip to Iceland to look forward to next Tuesday. I still hope to have a good word count on the Wednesday but have a chunk of work to do before then.

Do leave a comment below to share your progress, successes and otherwise, and of course anything else that’s happened to you, writing related, over the past seven days.

Getting ahead with the blog – 2,400 words written and edited since the day before yesterday and about 2,500 words published today – that 5,000 in a week, which I’m quite chuffed about.
Completed a beta read of someone else’s manuscript and have started a review copy of a very enjoyable memoir called The Cat With Three Passports.
My own beta reading comments are coming back, so there will be a bit of manuscript tickling this week. I need to get my final manuscript off for formatting by the 14th November latest. I am delighted that my new book, To Hel In A Hound Cart already has a few 5* reviews, and my previous book It Never Rains But It Paws got a 5* from and Amazong Vine Voice this week, no less!
Such positive feedback is always an encouragement to keep writing.
You have my full sympahy with the house move, but I am so excited for you going to Iceland next week. (And a teensy weensy but jealous because we can’t go to Iceland with dogs!)

5k is fabulous! I’m hoping to do that this week but moving things from my mum’s into storage, viewing houses and getting ready for a holiday will dent that.
I love the TCWTP – hilarious and intriguing.
I’ve not heard of Amazon Vine Voice – I’ll have to look it up but it sounds very prestigious.
I’m not wishing my holiday away but I will get my dog back (from my uncle) when we return so looking forward to that too as I’ve not seen him (my Gus) since 18th August!

I am having a very slow start at NaNoWriMo. 622 words only, but better than none I tell myself. Busy day today so only wrote another 100 or so. Still doing some prep work on it. Trying to get some order, which I don’t normally do, as a pantser/discovery writer. Haha.
You are going well with such a busy schedule Morgen. I can’t imagine Iceland, apart from freezing!

I hadn’t heard of Vine Voice reviews until I got one! I think they’re special invitation reveiwers.
Our pups are all a bit under the weather, so we’re taking things easy with them, which explains the miraculous word count!
TCWTP is a great read – beautifully written and very inspiring. I am really enjoying it!
