Blog interviews

THE BLOG INTERVIEWS ARE CURRENTLY BOOKING INTO AUGUST 2014

** If you interview authors, I now host third-party interviews (including those below by Francine Silverman) **

When I have them, the blog interviews are currently posted on this blog on Saturday mornings UK time and having run over 800 for free, I had to start charging. However there are now two options:

  • Free interview: if you’ve been interviewed elsewhere and they are happy for you to use the interview elsewhere, then you can send me the text including your websites and third-person biography (all as one document please), along with as many pictures as you like (of yourself and / or covers, ideally no more than 100kb size) as separate attachments within the same email; no embedding into the document/s. Thank you.
  • Non-free interview: Depending upon the format you write (novels, non-fiction, children’s, poetry, script etc), I can send you an interview template to add in your comments. When it comes back to me, I add in comments as if we’re chatting which takes a considerable amount of time. There would be a £30 / €37.50 / $45 charge for this because of this – so it’s not just a standard Q&A, and readers appreciate it. This interview would also be posted on my other interview-only and Blogspot blogs. If you’d like to take this option, please email me for the relevant questionnaire, (payment, via PayPal to my email address: morgen@morgenbailey.com, required when you submit your replies, photos etc.).
  • There are also plenty of other free options on Opportunities on this blog that would be posted on this blog.

Below is a list of those already posted or scheduled. If you are an author and either feel the full interview is too much or would like some exposure before your interview goes live, you could also do a free ‘author spotlight’ which is written by you, read then posted by me. Take a look at the author spotlight page to get the idea of what I need, then do email me if you’re interested in this option. You’re welcome to do both.

Due to everything involved with this blog (and my other commitments; client editing, writing, house, dog and so on) I am unable to do book reviews other than for short stories or crime novellas – see Reviewers for some other sites that do, but I do welcome your 6-word or <500-word flash fiction for Flash Fiction Fridays.

POSTED:

SCHEDULED (any missing Saturdays are Author spotlights):

  • 702. you could have your interview here – (Saturday 02.08.14), to be revisited on Blogspot 05.08.14 and MAI on 10.08.14
  • 703. you could have your interview here – (Saturday 09.08.14), to be revisited on Blogspot 12.08.14 and MAI on 17.08.14

FORTHCOMING / DATES TO BE CONFIRMED (to fit editing / publishing schedules etc):

I was invited, for a second year, to sponsor the ‘Shirley You Jest!’ 2013 Awards:

If you’ve read all these and want more… there’s a list of other bloggers (I’m no.7 of 21) who interview authors.

————————————————————————————————————————-

If you write (any genre; published or not) and would like to be ‘blog interviewed’, do let me know. It’s a very simple process. I send you a Word document with some questions, you answer as few or as many as you like then email it back to me (morgen@morgenbailey.com) with a photograph or more (of yourself and / or cover(s)) then I take a look, add some of my comments as if we were sitting chatting and set a date for when it would go live on my blog so please give me plenty of notice if you would like a particular date (to tie in with a launch etc). Please send files as attachments wherever possible, thank you.

…and if you’d like to read interviews of me you can find them at Teresa MorrowWho HubGerrie Ferris FingerJess C Scott, with myself for my 100th blog interview (released on my birthday), Marilyn MeredithAnne K AlbertMarja McGrawRosanne DingliSarahjane Funnell (celebrating the launch of my eBooks), Smoky Trudeau ZeidelWinn SmithKat ‘K.S.’ BrooksSue RoebuckElle AmberleyAvril JoyJean Henry Mead, and Helen Ross. That’s very kind Irwin but unfortunately I’m so pressed for time that I wouldn’t be able to do it justice. I’ve emailed you a list of questions so take a look and see what you think. Kind regards, Morgen

Morgen, I was very impressed with your Interview with Jon, the Autobiographical
writer and his “nomadic history” that I sent him an e-mail message, indicating a number of things we have in common, such as writing adventure stories based on our personal experience, and, a mutual Scottish heritage, including a “connection” to a larger-than-life fictional character, the “Tai-Pan” of James Clavel’s novels, from whom I adopted the e-mail name, taipanwooten@aol.com.

Blog interviews are so important to an author. Recently I had my email account (tdwriter) compromised by a hacker who tried to solicit money from my contacts. I could no longer get into my email nor could I alert my contacts about this hacker. I spent days trying to close this account. A lot of my social networking sites, now lost to me, were kept nice and neat in folders at this email address. What I’d like to say to anyone who trusts electronics is to print out everything you have online and keep this information in a special folder on your desk. Same with interviews. I had a devil of a time recontacting everyone. To be part of a blog is to become part of a community of friends. Don’t lose them like I did.

Brilliant initiative Morgen! I just discovered your site (thanks to LI). I write short stories-in-verse, poetry and scripts for short films. I was one of the 238 authors recently covered by Hollywood & Vine magazine (www.hollywoodvinemag.com/issue6), following a blowup with a prominent NYC agency. I would love to be on your blog-show at some point as I have 2 books coming out this year. Since you are already booking 2013, do please send my an email with at least the number I can expect–you can follow up with the questions at your convenience (I will deal with them in under a week). Thank you so much, I will look to return the favour in the future.

Hello Shriwal. It depends on the type of interviewees you plan to approach. I’d suggest reading interviews in the relevant industry / topic as well as researching your interviewee so you can tailor specific questions to their experience.
